Lot 3 | 7-Day Predator Winter Hunt

Donated by Coke Wallace and Midnight Sun Safaris

“Wolf hunting Alaska style is always rewarding! We will do some calling for predators as well as setting traps and snares in locales that are likely spots to produce results. Typically, we will snowmobile between 50 and 150 miles a day in search of wolves, wolverine, lynx, coyote and fox. If you’re looking to only do wolf hunting in Alaska, then later in the winter is the prime time. You will stay at several cabins for two and three day stints looking for predators to call and/or trap. These hunts have become very popular over the years! The hunts are conducted primarily by snowmobile in GMU’s 13 and 20. I run three different traplines encompassing over 300 miles.

These hunts take place between December and March. If the hunter would like an opportunity to harvest a lynx or wolverine, they will have to come join me in the dead of the Alaskan winter (December – February). I won’t promise warm weather, but I will guarantee you some of the most scenic snowmobiling on earth and lots of it! If you want to harvest some of the most luxurious fur on the face of the earth, this is the hunt for you!”

- Coke Wallace

A great addition to any collection, this is a Cave Bear Skull replica made from Knights Taxidermy in Anchorage, Alaska.

Cave bears were a prehistoric species of bear that roamed in the Pleistocene era becoming extinct over 24,000 years ago in the Last Glacial Maximum. Named after most of its fossils were found in caves, cave bears were comparable in size to the largest modern day brown bears, weighing in around 700-1300 pounds. They do have some major differences as this prehistoric animal lacks two to three premolars that our modern-day bears have and to compensate for the lack of teeth the last molar is very elongated. These bears also have a very broad domed skull with a steep forehead making this replica much larger than the modern-day brown bear.

Measurements of this skull are 22” Length, and 15” Width.

Lot 8 | Frontier Gear of Alaska Backpack

Donated by Barney's Sports Chalet and Kevin Dana

Bag: The YUKON bag is back! Bob designed this pack over 15 years ago to fill th egap between the Hunter Bag and the Pinnacle Bag. Drinking from the same glacial stream as its brother the Pinnacle, the Yukon is Barney's largest bag at 7800 cubic inches but offers a zippered cordura shelf in the center of the pack for added organization. The access at the bottom of the pack is what makes this pack highly demanded by athletes in the field who want access to their pack on the fly. Whether you're hunting Mounmtain Goat in Alaska, Stone Sheep in BC or Mule Deer in the Midwest, you'll find any serious hunter wearing a Frontier Gear of Alaska pack and the Yukon gives the hunter all the features necessary to make that hunt of a lifetime come true. Made from 500 Denier Cordura with Dymmema reinforced stitching and #1- YKK zippers, there isn't a more rugged and reliable pack on the market.

Frame: Over the years we have researched the lightest and strongest weight materials on the planet to construct his packs to stand up against Alaska’s rugged backcountry. Our Freighter Frame is constructed of 6061 grade aircraft aluminum that uses “V” truss technology to prevent frame torsion when dropped and also leaves more room for your head to swivel when glassing the high peaks of Dall country. We use our custom shoulder suspensions system made of a three layer memory foam for supreme comfort when packing out that trophy of a lifetime. The shoulder suspensions operate on the “yoke” system which allows our staff to completely customize each pack to the hunter, accounting for both height and weight dimensions. The smart, anatomical design gives the user the most comfortable and functional fit, even under heavy loads. We also customize our own contoured “free floating” hip belt with non slip grip to prevent the pack from moving up on down. The hip belt is tapered, meaning that it is wider at the bottom than the top, which matches the contours of the body. The backbands can be often be a weak link in a pack. When these critical pieces start to fail your body is no longer protected from the frame, leading to pressure areas and rubs. Our backbands are made of materials used in conveyor belts, materials that will not stretch even under continual loads. Our custom meat shelf integrates the frame in to a completely versatile meat hauler that is a necessity in Alaska’s lowland moose country. From the shoulder suspensions, hip belt, and back bands, nearly every piece of this custom pack is made for us right here in the heart of the United States. The work horse of the hardcore hunter the freighter frame was built to handle heavy loads with ease, from elk or moose quarters to your whole camp on a walk-in sheep hunt the freighter frame can take it all and be back for more.
