ABOUT THE OUTFITTER

Lyle Becker began his guiding career in 2005 and received his Registered Guide and Outfitter license in 2009. In 2014, he was awarded a special use concession permit area on the Alaska Peninsula Wildlife Refuge and in 2016, purchased half of John Peterson’s business in the Brooks Range (after guiding eight years for him). This enabled him to receive a special use permit in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2018, he acquired an additional area in ANWR held by long-time guide and Alaskan artist Sandy Jamieson. Lyle spends over 100 nights a year on the ground in a sleeping bag. We are privileged to have access to guide hunts in over 1.3 million acres of special permitted wilderness lands.

ABOUT THE HUNTS

Dall Sheep

Tough yet elegant creatures, Dall sheep thrive in a high-mountain environment over scree and limited vegetation. Long considered the pinnacle of endurance hunting, pursuing these mountain sheep is easily one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that Alaska has to offer the sportsman. We take only 2 sheep hunters per year and have a high success rate in an area that had not been hunted for sheep decades prior to our operation. This is a remote backpacking hunt, and the hunter must be in good physical shape.

Peninsula Brown Bear

Coastal Brown Bear of the Alaska Peninsula are contenders for the biggest predators in the world. Regularly producing top-entry Boone & Crockett specimens, this area rivals any area in the world for record book bears.

Alaska Yukon Moose

We hunt the Alaska Yukon moose, the largest deer in the world. This is a “spot-and-stalk" hunt, with interactive calling that makes it particularly exciting. Usually structured as a float trip, this can also be a stationary hunt. This hunt is 1 guide per hunter and includes 1 trophy moose. Caribou may be added for a trophy fee and wolves may be hunted for no additional fee. We also offer a moose/grizzly/caribou combination hunt.

Arctic Grizzly Bear

Known for the unique variations in their color patterns, long and thick hair, and impressive claws, Arctic Grizzlies are beautiful animals with a fascinating adaptability to their landscape. We offer hunts in the Brooks Range in the spring of odd-numbered years and every fall. Spring hunts take place late May through early June. At this time, the boars are in rut, ranging farther than usual and looking for sows. Fall hunts take place late August through mid-September. Both hunts are "spot-and-stalk" style that is very glassing-intensive and may require long hikes over open terrain.

Barren Ground Caribou

Caribou are the iconic migrators of Alaska. Remarkable in their endurance and the vast territories they cover; they truly are outstanding animals to see. In the Brooks Range, we hunt the Porcupine herd, one of the healthiest and most prolific herds in the world. This is a "spot-and-stalk" and ambush pass-through style hunt. It is generally of moderate difficulty, although it may be quite easy depending upon how well your trip is timed with the height of migration through camp. This hunt can be conducted with 1 hunter per guide, but is also well suited for a group trip. We offer 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 packages, if desired. As this is a 2 caribou per hunter area, a second caribou may be added to this hunt for a trophy fee
